Best app to send money from Canada to Ethiopia. It has zero fees if you are sending to someone's account, and the exchange rate is always reasonable. One time I tried to send money but there was a problem with the recipients account and I got my money back without even calling their customer service. They immediately refunded me. Keep up the great work on this app please. I am very pleased and will recommend this app to all of my relatives!

FAQ

Yes — Paysend is a legitimate, regulated, and trustworthy money transfer service. Paysend is authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority as an electronic money institution (FRN 900004) and registered in the US as a licensed money transmitter (NMLS ID 2048617). All transactions are protected by bank-grade encryption, 3D Secure card authentication, and 24/7 fraud monitoring by a dedicated in-house security team. Paysend is PCI DSS certified, and as an EMI your funds are safeguarded under FCA rules (note: this is different from FSCS bank-deposit protection). Paysend serves over 7 million customers and holds a 4.3-star "Excellent" rating on Trustpilot.
Paysend lets you send money internationally from your debit card, credit card, or bank account directly to a recipient's bank account, card, or mobile wallet in 170+ countries. You enter the amount, the recipient's details, and pay — most card-to-card transfers arrive in under 15 minutes. There is one low fixed fee per transfer regardless of the amount, plus an exchange rate margin on currency conversions.
Paysend charges a low, fixed transfer fee that depends on the country you're sending from — typically from £1 in the UK, €1.50 in the EU, $2 in the US, and CAD $3 in Canada — regardless of how much you send. An exchange rate margin is included on currency conversions. There are no recipient fees, and new customers can often send their first transfer fee-free via promo code.
Most card-to-card transfers arrive in under 15 minutes, and many land within seconds. Bank account transfers and mobile-wallet payouts take 1–3 business days depending on the destination country, your recipient's bank, and the time of day you send. You can track every transfer in real time in the app.
Paysend supports transfers to more than 170 countries worldwide, with delivery to bank accounts, debit and credit cards, mobile wallets, and recipient phone numbers (Paysend Link). Available send-from countries include the UK, EU/EEA, US, and Canada. Top destinations include India, the Philippines, Turkey, Ukraine, Nigeria, Mexico, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
Limits depend on your verification tier. New accounts (Basic tier) can send up to $999 per day; verified Advance accounts up to $5,000 per day; and fully verified Ultimate accounts up to $10,000 per day, with corresponding monthly and biannual caps. State-specific limits apply in Arizona and Florida. You can raise your limit by completing additional ID verification in the app.
You can cancel a transfer for free, as long as it hasn't been processed yet. Open the Paysend app, go to Transfers, select the transfer, and tap Cancel. Once a transfer is in progress or completed, contact Customer Support — refunds are possible in cases such as wrong recipient details or technical failure, and typically take 3–10 business days to appear back on your card.
Transfers are most commonly held for one of three reasons: additional ID verification is required (Paysend will message you in-app), the recipient's bank is processing the deposit (typical for first-time transfers to a new account), or a routine compliance check is in progress. Check live status in the app under Transfers. If a transfer has been pending for more than 24 hours, contact Support with your transaction number.
No, in most cases they don't. Money goes directly to their bank account, debit/credit card, or mobile wallet — they don't need to sign up or download anything. For Paysend Link transfers (sent via phone number), the recipient receives an SMS with a one-time link to claim the funds to their card or account.
You can fund a Paysend transfer with a debit or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, China UnionPay), a bank transfer (where supported), or Apple Pay / Google Pay in eligible regions. Available methods depend on your country. Card payments are fastest; bank transfers are often cheaper for larger amounts.
You can close your Paysend account at any time. Open the app, go to Profile → Settings → Close account, or contact Customer Support at help@paysend.com from the email address on your account. Before closing, make sure all transfers are complete and your balance is zero. Paysend retains some transaction records after closure as required by financial regulations, but your account will no longer be active and you won't receive any further communications.
Paysend Customer Support is available 24/7 through several channels: in-app live chat — tap the chat icon in any Help Centre article for the fastest response; email — help@paysend.com; phone — available in selected regions, with numbers listed in the Help Centre; and the Help Centre at help.paysend.com for self-service guides. When contacting Support about a transfer, include your transaction number (found in Transfers → tap the transfer → icon next to Transaction no) so the team can resolve your case faster.
Paysend's strength is simplicity and predictability: a single low fixed fee per transfer regardless of amount, and fast card-to-card delivery in 170+ countries. Wise offers the mid-market rate with variable percentage fees (often best for large transfers). Remitly and WorldRemit are strong for cash pickup and mobile-money payouts in specific corridors. The best choice depends on your destination, transfer size, and how your recipient prefers to be paid.
